About

The Alumni Club of Richland County was started about the same time as the Ohio State Mansfield Campus was opened.  The campus evolved out of the effort of local people to acquire land and establish a “real” Ohio State campus.  Evening classes were being held at Mansfield Senior High at the time.  Once that goal was completed, a new goal of giving a yearly scholarship to a Richland County student to attend the new “branch” was formed.  In 1980, the first Buckeye Bash was held to raise funds.  It was determined in order to hold a successful event, monthly meetings were needed.  A formal constitution was written, officers were elected, and the club began.

Over the years the club has grown and broaden its scope.  In April 2015 the club signed the new charter with the Ohio State Alumni Association.  We took on the responsibility to provide events covering many areas of interests to our members including community service, student retention, networking, special interests, arts, lifelong learning and cultural events.  These programs are in addition to our social, family and game day gatherings, and our general meetings.

Under this charter, the Alumni Club of Richland County, has been recognized as an “Outstanding Alumni Club” at the Scarlet level in both 2016 & 2017.

Our Vision is to advance The Ohio State University by serving the most active alumni community in the world.

Our Mission is to be relentlessly committed to enriching lifelong relationships among the alumni body and our university.
